this is "the" book. seriously. i think this is the one and only book that got me thinking without even trying. your mind set will definitely change after you read it to the very last page. to those who wanted to know en hanafi better, you should read this book.

p/s: "the alchemist" which is also written by paulo coelho is also "the must have" book on our shelves. it helps me to understand why am i taking actuarial science as my major :D

Cinta tidak bersyarat tapi masih berbalas....

Allah menyuruh meletakkan cinta yang mudah dan membawa keuntungan ini di tempat teratas. Bukan tidak boleh menyintai manusia, tetapi sebelum itu mesti mencintai Allah terlebih dahulu. Apabila kita ingat DIA semasa kita cintakan manusia, kita dapat mengawal cinta itu supaya terpandu dalam kebaikan. Pasti Allah meredai dan merestui cinta kita pada yang lain.

Carilah cinta sejati, cinta yang tidak bersyarat tetapi masih berbalas...

Malaysian Hindu Mother's Insurance Case Highlights Religious Conflicts

A Hindu woman has spurned an offer by Malaysia's Islamic authorities to settle a dispute over her dead Muslim son's insurance policy in a case that highlights growing conflicts over religious rights, a lawyer said Wednesday.

The Federal Territory Islamic Council offered to give Rukumony Muthiah two-thirds of the 56,300 ringgit (US$17,400; euro11,800) death insurance of her son, a Muslim convert who died in 2000, Rukumony's lawyer Darshan Singh Khaira said.

In his insurance policy, Rukumony's son, Ragu Ellaiappan, whose Muslim name was Mohamed Redzuan Abdullah, named Rukumony as his beneficiary, Darshan said.

But Islamic authorities have argued in court that under the country's religious laws for Muslims, a non-Muslim cannot claim inheritance from a Muslim, he said.

"Our federal constitution guarantees equality so how can you say a non-Muslim cannot inherit from a Muslim, but a Muslim can inherit from a non-Muslim?'' Darshan told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

Islamic council officials familiar with the case could not immediately be reached.

The council's lawyers made the offer in High Court in northern Penang state this week, but Darshan said it was a "fairy tale offer'' that was unacceptable.

Rukumony, a 61-year-old ethnic Indian widow, is willing to settle for 80 percent of the total sum, Darshan said. The court scheduled to hear the case March 14.

His death certificate says he died of a brain infection at the age of 23, but the family believes there could be more suspicious causes linked to his stint as an army ranger because they have not been shown the post-mortem results, he said.

Malaysia's non-Muslim minorities say a spate of court cases in recent years, involving disputes between Muslims and non-Muslims, have usually ended with the Muslim side winning.

The legal conflicts have strained multiethnic ties in Malaysia, where ethnic Malay Muslims form about 60 percent of the 27 million people. Ethnic Chinese and Indians, whose faiths include Buddhism, Christianity and Hinduism, comprise the largest minorities.

Sisters almost abducted by man offering sweet from van

TWO children were almost abducted by a man sitting inside a van who lured them with candy while they were playing outside a restaurant in Puchong, Sin Chew Daily reported.

He tried to pull the five-year-old girl into the vehicle when the girl came to get the candy but the girl’s sister, 12, who saw the incident, ran to her rescue.

He tried to drag the older sister in as well.

However, when he saw a woman coming by, he abandoned his attempt and drove off.

A police report had been lodged by the girls’ parents, it reported.

strange things happen when you're least expecting it. suprise2 it did happened to me this morn though.
i decided to change my project paper to developing a product on child protection insurance which btw, we (shazzy, fhad n me) explained to the class this morn (what a blast. never thought we can get that kind of idea in a desperate attempt to impress ms haslifah).

here's some features abt this "new product":

1 - it will be a group insurance
- yesss, the whole kids in the nation will be protected under this "new product"
- eliminates the unique insurance (no Llyods)
2 - since it is a group insurance, the premium will be lower and will be calculated using takaful model (pinjam mcjah pny model).
3 - the benefit will be used to cover the costs involve in the "searching" activities.
- then, there will be no conflict of interest
4 - the insured is the child and the beneficiaries will be the search party (police squad, sharizat :P etc)

Death Bond : Profiting From Mortality

Death bond is a bond backed by underlying assets which is the pool of unwanted life insurance policy. Usually done by hedge-fund or bank (it seems like they are hedging against insurance company's profits) :) .

At first stage, it is operated by life-settlement company.

What is life-settlement company?

Imagine your grandpa whose age 70.He has a Whole Life Insurance with a face value of RM 100,000 that is payable of course when he died. But your grandpa is running out of cash to further paying the premiums. What he can do is he can sell the policy to the third party called life-settlement company.

Life settlement company will pay to your grandpa some portion of the face value (i.e 20% to 40% of the FV) and the company then continue to pay for the premium on behalf of your grandpa to keep the policy in force until your grandpa died.

When the times come, they company get the total cash value. Of course they will expect your grandpa to die as soon as possible so that the premium paid will be much lesser.

Of course if you gamble for the life of one person, the risk will be higher. A pool of these unwanted policy will spread the risk and consequently give out a stable return (around 8%) to the investors and they aren't correlated with the performance of stocks, bonds, commodities, or other investments.

Before the emergence of life settlements, customers who no longer wanted coverage can either:-

• Stopped paying the premiums.
  

• Sold their policies back to their insurers for a fraction of the potential death benefits--the so-called cash surrender value.
  

Insurers have long banked on and enjoyed on not having to pay on a certain percentage of their policies. According to the Wall Street Journal, the insurance industry earns annually 1.1 TRILLION DOLLARS in lapsed policies. Now a secondary market has emerged. Life settlements eat into those profits.

So what the insurer have to do ?

They're getting into the game. How?

They buy the life-settlements package. By sinking money into the sector, insurers can get back at least some of the money they now have to pay out in death benefits. If someone is going to profit, insurers have realized, it might as well be them.

But , i can't find life-settlement company in Malaysia by "googling" through Google. Do we have one?

Don't you think they(people who sell the policy) are more expose to being murdered? Huhu. Majnun!* .

“Apa erti saya menganut Islam?”, tidakkah soalan itu soalan yang tidak patut ditanya?

Tidak masuk akal untuk seseorang itu menjadi Muslim tetapi belum pernah memikirkan erti keIslamannya. Memilih sesuatu tanpa mengetahui apa yang dipilih?

Tidak… bukan begitu soalannya. Selama ini tidak pernah pun membuat pilihan, melainkan segalanya diterima secara kebetulan. Islam warisan. Islam yang turun dari emak ke anak, sebagaimana turunnya warna mata dan kerinting rambut.

skrg ni kemungkinan besar kt akan g portdickson for 3D2N on 11-13 Jan..mybe akan sewa bglo kat bt 8 betul2 dekat ngan teluk kemang..bglo tu mmg besar coz max 40 org..ktorg suggest boys n girls duk skali..ade 1 bilik kat bwh n 6 bilik kat ats..so, boys duk bwh n girls duk ats..about food, farah mencdgkn kt amik catering je, so spnjg kt kat sane terjamin la sket pemaknn kt ni..ala2 duk asrama la..hehe..ade brkfs-lunch-dinner..k, about transport, kt akan sewa bas, tp kena ade 1 kete yg follow..coz kalo ade ape2 emergency sng la..so sape nak bwk kete bg tau la..duit minyak bas n kete +sewa bas+ tol akn dikira sama rata.. ;)

guyss...i got an idea..but tak sure laa korang stuju ke tak..cube try glory beach resort...the swimming pool not bad...but the pantai tak brape best sangat laaa...on saturday nite, ader clown show and ader few shows lagik...bbq ponk ader...bleh buat kat hotel or tepi laut..so kiter bleh memekak2 skett hehehe....if nak makan,my suggestion is that kiter tayah makan hotel food (expensive durhh)...ble mintak this one outside catering prepare the food including the bbq...the caterer is from seremban...another one is tiara beach resort...mahal sket but dalam dier ader some sort of water games ala2 sunway lagoon wet park (but definitely tak sebest sunway lagoon hahaahha)....anyway...im going for a holiday kat pd next week...if ader any suggestion nak mintak tolong survey aper2 please do inform me ASAP....P/S ill ask if we can get a place for the slideshow...maybe we can ask for a screen, LCD etc huhuhuhu
